Indications for Use

Tricardin Heart Drops are used in functional disorders of the cardiovascular system, including neurocirculatory dystonia and vegetative neurosis.
The product is also indicated as a mild sedative in cases of nervous excitability and insomnia.

Composition

Active ingredients per 1 ml:

• Valerian tincture (Tinctura Valerianae) (1:5), extraction solvent: ethanol 70% — 0.34 ml
• Hawthorn tincture (Tinctura Crataegi) (1:10), extraction solvent: ethanol 70% — 0.33 ml
• Motherwort tincture (Tinctura Leonuri) (1:5), extraction solvent: ethanol 70% — 0.33 ml

Description

A liquid ranging in color from yellowish-brown to dark brown, with a characteristic valerian odor.
Sediment formation may occur during storage.

Properties

Tricardin Heart Drops exhibit cardiotonic and sedative effects, resulting from a complex of biologically active substances found in valerian roots and rhizomes, hawthorn fruits, and motherwort herb.

• Hawthorn compounds (flavonoids, choline, acetylcholine, tannins, phytosterols) provide hypotensive, cardioprotective, and antispasmodic effects, improve coronary and cerebral circulation, enhance myocardial sensitivity to cardiac glycosides, mildly increase myocardial contractility, and reduce excitability.

• Valerian constituents reduce central nervous system excitability, relieve tension and fatigue, exhibit sedative, hypnotic, and antispasmodic properties, slow heart rate, dilate coronary vessels, stimulate bile secretion, and increase gastric secretory activity.

• Motherwort biologically active substances reduce CNS excitation, support normalization of blood pressure, promote physiological sleep, and enhance the effects of other sedative and hypnotic agents.

Contraindications

• History of alcoholism
• Concomitant use of alcohol-containing medicines
• Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach or duodenum
• Liver cirrhosis
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Depression or other disorders accompanied by CNS depression
• Severe arterial hypotension or bradycardia
• Hypersensitivity to any component of the product

Interactions

The product may enhance the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, tranquilizers, neuroleptics, analgesics, antispasmodics, cardiac glycosides, antihypertensive agents, and alcohol.
Simultaneous use with alkaloid salts is not recommended due to possible complex formation.
Do not use together with class III antiarrhythmic drugs or cisapride.

Inform your physician about all concomitant medications.

Dosage

Adults:
20–30 drops, 3 times daily, taken orally before meals.

Children aged 12 years and older:
1 drop per year of age, 3 times daily, before meals.

The duration of treatment is determined individually, depending on the nature and severity of the condition, treatment response, and tolerability.

Special Precautions

Children:
Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

Drivers and machine operators:
Avoid driving vehicles or operating machinery during use.

Alcohol:
Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
Contains ethanol — prolonged use is not recommended.

Overdose

Excessive doses may cause headache, dizziness, drowsiness, bradycardia, decreased blood pressure, general weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, reduced visual and auditory acuity, palpitations, mental agitation, and hypersensitivity reactions.
Discontinue use and initiate symptomatic treatment if necessary.
