Shiitake is the most cultivated mushroom in the world. In addition to medicinal purposes, it is widely used in cooking. There are a huge number of recipes for soups, sauces, seasonings, and drinks from shiitake in oriental cuisine. During the Chinese dynasty the Great Ming Shiitake was documented to be used in a decoction to prolong youth and cure diseases. Shiitake cap is rich in nutrients, it contains 18 amino acids, including 8 essential ones. Shiitake mushrooms is good as an immunostimulant, has antibacterial and antiviral activity. Shiitake is especially useful for restoring the body from severe exhaustion after a serious illness, injury or surgery.

Shiitake contains the polysaccharide lentinan, which has unique anti-tumorigenic properties, phytoncides with anti-fungal activity, and create unfavorable conditions for the survival of viruses. It also stimulates hormones secretion produced by thyroid and adrenal glands. The hormones are essential for normal healthy, and satisfying sex life.  Recent studies have shown that shiitake helps control blood pressure, regulates blood cholesterol levels, and has a hepatoprotective effect.
