Rosewood essential oil is derived from the wood of the exotic evergreen tree Ocotea caudata (also known as Aniba rosaeodora). Method of Production

Rosewood essential oil (Oleum Anibae Rosaeodorae) is extracted by steam distillation from crushed wood shavings of the pink or mahogany tree (Aniba rosaeodora Ducke), belonging to the Laurel family (Lauraceae). Aromatica sources its rosewood from Paraguay.

Properties

A light yellow to colourless fluid, rosewood oil has a fresh, woody, sweet, and subtly floral scent reminiscent of rose and lily of the valley. Its aroma carries slightly bitter-spicy, warm woody, and camphoraceous undertones.

How to Use

• Cosmetic Enrichment: Add 2–5 drops to 10 g (ml) of base oil, cream, lotion, tonic, shampoo, etc.

• Massage: Mix 6–7 drops with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (olive, almond, peach seed, wheat germ) or cream.

• Baths: Add 6–8 drops mixed with 1 tbsp emulsifier (milk, honey, sea or table salt) to a bath at 37–38 °C. Soak 10–15 minutes.

• Sauna: Add 5–7 drops diluted in a small amount of hot water on the upper rack of the steam room.

• Room Aromatisation: Add 5–7 drops to an aroma lamp filled with water or apply on a napkin/cup of hot water on a radiator. Can also be used in humidifiers.

• For external use only.

• Patch test recommended. Avoid overdosing.

• If oil contacts eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.

• Use cautiously during pregnancy, gastritis, peptic ulcer, and acute kidney disease.

Storage

Store tightly closed, out of reach of children, in a cool place below +25 °C, away from direct sunlight.
