Description
Grapefruit Essential Oil
(Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil)
100% Natural | Country of Origin: USA
Properties and Aroma
Grapefruit essential oil is extracted by cold pressing the peel of the Citrus paradisi fruit, a hybrid of pomelo and sweet orange. First commercially produced in 1933, it is one of the youngest yet most beloved essential oils in aromatherapy and skincare.
This light greenish-yellow oil has a refreshing, bright citrus aroma—crisp, slightly bitter, and subtly sweet with grassy undertones. Its uplifting scent makes it a favourite for energising blends and emotional balance.
Cosmetic Benefits
Grapefruit essential oil is widely used in skincare and body care, particularly for oily or combination skin. Its main cosmetic benefits include:
-
Brightening and whitening the skin, reducing freckles and age spots
-
Cleansing and tightening pores, normalising sebum production
-
Toning and firming skin to reduce early signs of ageing
-
Improving skin elasticity, especially in the neck and décolleté area
-
Combating cellulite and stretch marks by stimulating circulation and metabolism
-
Moisturising and nourishing dry or rough areas
-
Supporting healthy nails by strengthening and hydrating nail plates
For hair, it:
-
Helps regulate oil production on the scalp
-
Strengthens roots and revitalises hair structure

Aromatherapy and Emotional Effects
The crisp, refreshing aroma of grapefruit oil is valued in aromatherapy as:
-
A natural mood booster, reducing anxiety, mental fatigue, and depression

Household and Air Purification Uses
Grapefruit oil is an effective natural deodoriser, neutralising unpleasant odours like smoke or pet smells.
Ideal for use in aroma lamps, diffusers, or candles, especially during the autumn-winter season, to refresh and purify indoor air.
