Zinc Citrate

Сontains an organic zinc compound in the form of zinc citrate.

Recommended use: 1/2 tablet a day.

Ingredients: zinc citrate, bulking agent (microcrystalline cellulose, calcium phosphate), binder (magnesium salts of fatty acids).

Composition of 1 tablet: 25 mg of zinc (167% RWS *)

Zinc in the human body performs catalytic, structural and regulatory functions.

It contains over 300 enzymes, incl. those involved in protein biosynthesis. This element is involved in the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, as well as energy transformations, it is necessary for the production and / or functioning of many hormones.

It is responsible for maintaining the stability of cell membranes, the perception of taste and smell, alcohol metabolism, and the body's immune defense.

In the central nervous system, indirectly, it may participate in the modulation of synaptic plasticity, memory and learning processes, as well as in the regulation of excitation and signal conduction (JOM 2001; EFSA 2014; Lowe 2013; Chasapis 2012; King 2014; Gapys 2014; Maret 2013) ).

The demand for zinc, related to the growth of new tissues, depends on the rate of growth of the organism in various periods of childhood and adolescence. It is most intense in the first months of life. The physiological demand for zinc also increases during the puberty period. This is especially true for boys (Scient. Opinion 2014, Lowe 2013, Chasapis 2012).

During pregnancy, the absorption of zinc from food increases, but due to the needs of the developing fetus, the demand for this ingredient is higher. Also during lactation, in order to compensate for zinc losses related to milk secretion, a higher intake of zinc is recommended for breastfeeding women (Wilson 2016, Scient. Opinion 2014, Donangelo 2012).
