Description
Vitamin E Acetate / Tocopheryl Acetate
INCI: Tocopherol Acetate >95%, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil <5%
Vitamin E Acetate (Tocopheryl Acetate) is the most commonly used form of vitamin E in cosmetics. It is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes and eliminates free radicals present in the skin, thereby slowing down the skin aging process. It strengthens and nourishes the skin's lipid barrier, helping to regulate water balance and enhance the skin’s ability to retain moisture.
An additional highly valued property of vitamin E is its ability to protect the skin from harmful UV radiation and soothe the effects of sunburn.
Vitamin E also accelerates wound healing and has anti-inflammatory properties.
Moreover, vitamin E acetate serves as a natural preservative, ensuring the stability and shelf life of cosmetic formulations.
Usage
Vitamin E Acetate is widely used in nearly all skincare products, ranging from rejuvenating and moisturizing creams and balms to sun protection products, and even dermatological treatments that aid wound healing and reduce sunburn effects.
It is recommended to be used at concentrations up to 5%. This compound dissolves excellently in oils and cosmetic butters but is insoluble in water.
Chemical Information
Vitamin E Acetate is an acetate ester of acetic acid and vitamin E (tocopherol). Compared to pure tocopherol, it has a blocked hydroxyl group, which results in a higher pH (lower acidity). Upon contact with the skin, the acetate slowly hydrolyzes and is absorbed.
