Description
Tamanu Oil
INCI: Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil
Cold-pressed, unrefined oil.
Tamanu oil is obtained from the fruit of the Calophyllum Inophyllum tree, naturally occurring on the islands of the Pacific Ocean, and also cultivated in the countries of Southeast Asia, as well as on the islands of the Indian Ocean. By pressing these fruits (preferably cold), an oil with an intense smell and greenish color is obtained.
It consists of:
- oleic acid
- linoleic acid
- palmitic acid
- stearic acid
- calophyllic acid (responsible for antibacterial action)
In smaller amounts it contains coumarins, lactones with strong bacteriostatic and anti-inflammatory action, stigmasterol, glycolipids, phospholipids, essential oils and resins.
Action
Tamanu oil has unusual healing, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antiseptic properties. It intensively regenerates the skin and reduces scars. It is helpful in treating acne and psoriasis.
Reduces wrinkles, improves skin tension.
It is very well absorbed through the skin, reaching its deep layers, which directly results in its elasticity, moisturization, and nourishment. After bathing, it enhances the feeling of relaxation.
It is also widely used in the care and treatment of hair and scalp (dandruff, psoriasis, folliculitis, alopecia).
How to use
Recommended concentration in cosmetic formulas 5-99%.
It can also be mixed with other oils and essential oils (chamomile, lavender, rose oil), creating an excellent anti-acne agent.
Another method of use is to add the oil to any serum, balm or cream (recommended concentration up to 50%).
Tamanu oil works great as a two-phase moisturizer in combination with hyaluronic acid gel (mix a portion of the gel with a few drops of oil and mix thoroughly, then apply to the skin with your fingers and gently pat in).
Storage
The oil can be stored at room temperature in a tightly closed container, it retains its care and healing properties for many months.
