Action

Propanediol is a plant-based alternative to traditional glycols. It is an excellent solvent for many ingredients (e.g., salicylic acid, ferulic acid, alpha-lipoic acid, powdered plant extracts, allantoin). It has moisturizing properties, enhances the effectiveness of preservatives, stabilizes cosmetic formulas, and aids the penetration of active ingredients deep into the skin.

Usage

Safe usage concentration up to 75%. Commonly used as a solvent for plant extracts, acids (e.g., mandelic, salicylic acids instead of water or alcohol), or other water-insoluble substances.
Propanediol boosts the effectiveness of preservatives, allowing their concentration to be reduced.
In cleansing cosmetics such as shampoos, liquid soaps, and gels, it has foaming properties.
