Geranium Essential Oil (Pelargonium graveolens)

Geranium essential oil is a unique aromatherapy remedy known for its calming, refreshing, and uplifting properties. Method of Production

Geranium essential oil (Oleum Geranii or Oleum Pelargonii) is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and flowering tops of the rose geranium plant (Pelargonium graveolens).
The raw material used in TM Aromatica’s essential oil is sourced from Madagascar.

Properties

The oil is a colourless to pale green or brownish liquid with a pleasant, floral fragrance. The scent has a soft rose-like character with fresh minty notes. Sweet floral top notes evolve into warm, earthy undertones with a slightly tart, bitter base.

Note: Geranium essential oil must always be diluted before applying to the skin. It does not dissolve in water but blends well with oils, milk, kefir, yogurt, wax, honey, or salt.

• Woody & Earthy: Patchouli, cedarwood, santalum, rosewood

• Fresh: Citronella, sage, petitgrain, juniper

How to Use

► Cosmetic Enrichment:
Add 4–5 drops of geranium oil (or blend with other essential oils) to 10–15 ml of a cosmetic base (cream, tonic, lotion, mask, or shampoo). Best base oils include sea buckthorn, almond, jojoba, apricot, peach, grape seed, and avocado.

► For Oily/Problem Skin:
Mix 10 ml wheat germ oil with 2 drops chamomile oil and 1 drop each of eucalyptus, juniper, and geranium.

► For Rough Hands & Elbows:
Combine 1 tbsp warmed sour cream with 5 drops myrrh, 3 drops geranium, and 3 drops orange oil. Apply for 30 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

► Massage:
Use 4–6 drops of geranium oil in 1–2 tbsp of carrier oil or massage cream. For scalp massage, use a 1:3 ratio of geranium to base oil.

► Aromatic Bath:
Add 4–6 drops of geranium oil to bathwater (37–38°C), mixed with 1–2 tbsp of emulsifier (milk, honey, salt). Soak for 10–15 minutes.

► Sauna Use:
Add 3–5 drops diluted in 500 ml of water and pour over hot stones to aromatize the air.

► Room Fragrance:
Add 3–5 drops (per 15 m²) to an aroma lamp or diffuser. Alternatively, place a few drops on a tissue or in hot water on a radiator. Enjoy for 15–30 minutes.

Storage Conditions

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and out of reach of children. Recommended temperature: below +25°C.
