Chaulmoogra Oil is obtained through cold pressing the seeds of Hydnocarpus wightiana, a tree native to Asia and traditionally used in natural Eastern medicine. The oil ranges in color from yellow to dark yellow and contains a unique blend of fatty acids, including hydnocarpic acid, chaulmoogric acid, myristic, palmitic, stearic, palmitoleic, oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids.
Skin Benefits
This oil is particularly suited for acne-prone, oily, and combination skin. It is valued for its astringent, antiseptic, and nourishing properties. It helps regulate sebum production, soothes skin imperfections, and reduces inflammation.
In traditional medicine, Chaulmoogra oil has been used in the treatment of leprosy, with effectiveness comparable to sulfonamides.
