Description
Properties and Benefits
Basil essential oil is renowned for its rich, uplifting aroma and its effective care for oily and combination skin. It smooths and tones slack skin, strengthens hair, and is highly valued for overcoming stress and fatigue. Regular use of basil oil can improve overall health and enhance memory and mental clarity.
Method of Production
Basil essential oil (Oleum Basilici) is obtained by steam distillation of the flowers and leaves of basil or camphor basil (Ocimum basilicum L.).
Raw materials for TM Aromatica come from Vietnam.
Aroma and Appearance
The oil has a pleasant, strong, tart, sweetly spicy, and herbaceous scent, with subtle hints of camphor and tarragon. It appears as a colourless or pale yellow liquid.
Cosmetic Benefits
Basil essential oil is a powerful tonic and rejuvenator for the skin, especially effective for sagging and problem skin. It refreshes and tones, making it an excellent additive for daily skincare products.
For hair care, basil oil is traditionally rubbed into the scalp to prevent breakage and hair loss. It strengthens hair, improves texture, restores shine, and stimulates growth.
As with all essential oils, basil oil should always be diluted before applying to the skin — in carrier oils, creams, or other emulsifiers.
Aromatherapy Benefits
Basil oil quickly improves the emotional state, helping to relieve nervous and mental fatigue, anxiety, melancholy, stress, and insomnia. Known as the “optimist oil,” it balances the psycho-emotional state, reduces nervousness, clarifies the mind, refreshes memory, stimulates thinking, and aids problem-solving.
Culturally, basil is a symbol of love and acts as an aphrodisiac, increasing sexual desire while promoting relaxation and stress relief.
Household Uses
Basil essential oil soothes skin irritations from insect stings and acts as an effective repellent against flies and mosquitoes.

Basil oil blends well with:

Bergamot, lemon, lavender, marjoram, sage, geranium, neroli, santalum, limette, citronella
